Furlough Update 12th May 2020

Furlough Update 12th May 2020

You may have heard that there has been an announcement this afternoon in parliament by The Chancellor, Rishi Sunak, regarding the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) which will now be extended until October 2020.

Mr Sunak has confirmed that employees will continue to receive 80% of their wages up to £2500 under the CJRS until at least the end of July.

From August to October, the scheme will continue for all sectors and regions of the UK, but with greater flexibility to support the transition back to work. Employers currently using the scheme would be able to bring furloughed employees back part-time.

There will be a requirement for employers to share the wage burden with the Government from August 2020, however there have not yet been any thorough details set out for this as yet.

If you are a client currently going through a redundancy programme etc, we will contact you to discuss your options and next steps today.

Alongside the CJRS, the government have announced guidance on safe working practices in returning employees to work, we are here to support with your individual requirements and workplace practices, but for the full guidance, please click here: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/working-safely-during-coronavirus-covid-19

As always, as a valued client you can be assured that as soon as we have any further details we will share them with you.
